In east Mahavideh of Jambudweep, there was a city named Pundarikini. King Dhanrath ruled the city. He had 2 Queens -

1. Priyamati & 2. Manorama

Queen Priyamati gave birth to a prince Meghrath & Queen Manorama gave birth to a prince Dhanrath. On attaining maturity both the prince were married and prince Meghrath was crowned King. King Dhanrath took Diksha.

Birth:-

Hastinapur city of Bharat Kshetra was ruled by king Vishwasen. Maharani Aiwradevi dreamt 14 auspicious dreams indicating the birth of a great atma.

On Vaishakh Vud teres, at midnight, the prince was born. The whole city was highted and decorated and dance with joy.

Naming Ceremony:-

King Vishwasen said that, before the Queens pregnancy, a contagious disease had spread through out the country. Maharani Achiradevi too suffered from this disease & was very much frustrated. But as soon as the Maharani became pregnant, Rani was cured & slowly this disease came to an end in the city. So, there was peace again. So the prince was named "Shanti Kumar".

Matrimony & kingdom:-

Prince Shanti Kumar was married and crowned king, and king Vishwasen became a Muni.

Diksha:-

On VVaishabh Vud chouduss, prince Shanti Kumar took Diksha.

Nirvan:-

After sacrificing food & water for a month, Bhagwan Shantinath attained Nirvan at Summet Shikhar.
